Delta Gamma sorority officially dedicated its new house Saturday with a presentation to faculty, alumni and members of other DG chapters.
August 2003 marked the beginning of DG’s new home, located in the former Sigma Nu fraternity house near Taylor College. The house is Delta Gamma’s third residence since it came to Lehigh in 1981. The sorority was originally housed on East Seventh Street. The sorority moved off campus in 1987 where it resided until it moved into Thornburg House.
Invitations were sent to the presidents of fraternities and sororities, the Interfraternity Council, the Panhellenic Council, university officials, the greek affairs office and DG national alumni and sisters. Those in attendance included Associate Dean of Students Tom Dubreuil, Associate Dean of Students Michael Carey, Fraternity and Sorority Coordinator Meredith Mickel and Yasmin Bugaighis, project planner for Facilities Services. Members of the Delta Gamma chapters at Lafayette College and the University of Connecticut also attended.
Sororities that do not already occupy a house on the Hill are housed in Upper Centennial. Each sorority is waiting for a house on the Hill to become available. Priority is given to the oldest chapters.
DG was able to obtain its new house after Sigma Nu fraternity was closed.
