UA sorority placed on probation for hazing

The University of Alabama's chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi has been placed on probation for hazing, but school officials declined to say what prompted the disciplinary action.
The sorority, one of 19 on campus, will serve probation for two years, university spokeswoman Cathy Andreen said Tuesday.
"The probation will not affect their recruitment abilities or the status of their house," Andreen said. "It's a time when they will be monitored more closely and will have to work more closely with the office of the dean of students."
