As I walked in to building 54 a wave of laughter filled the room as the new sorority, Alpha Sigma Tau settled in their seats for their weekly meeting. The president Miriam Donkin had to suppress the giggles and chatter with a few pounds of the gavel. “I expect that we make a name for ourselves that the community knows who we are and appreciates our help,” says Donkin. “I joined because I missed having girlfriends and I thought it was a good way of getting to know other females on campus.”

If you haven't heard already, Greek life will be expanding this semester with a new sorority on campus. Alpha Sigma Tau will be looking for women who are looking for a lifetime friendship. Educational Expansion Consultant, Colleen Coffey from Nashville, Tennessee, is recruiting woman who are well rounded and who want to succeed. "Friendships forged in tradition is what we hope to achieve" says Coffey.
Alpha Sigma Tau will be considered a colony until they understand how a chapter works. The woman will have elections, host socials, perform community service, and learn history and then from a few months to a year can finally become an official chapter.
